About Us

Quadrant began life in 1989 as a division of Light Impressions, a Rochester based mail order catalog. Our founder, Bill Edwards, recognized the need for a wholesale source of moulding and framing supplies for custom picture framers in the Upstate New York region. Craig Chormann, the current owner, purchased the business in October 1992 from Light Impressions and began to broaden the product line, adding glass and foam boards and a larger selection of wood mouldings. By 1994, Quadrant outgrew its home on Gould Street and relocated to its current location on University Avenue.

Today, we stock over 1000 wood and metal mouldings in our 12,000 square foot warehouse. Our delivery vans crisscross New York from Albany to Buffalo and Watertown to Binghamton.  We have state of the art equipment including a computer controlled underpinner and a sophisticated inventory management system. Our access to products from the major names in our industry gives our customers the power to pick just the right frame for the job and deliver it on time. Names like Nurre Caxton, Roma, and Presto mouldings, Bainbridge and Crescent matboards and Tru Vue glass keep your shop on the leading edge of the picture framing industry.

The big box retailers have dramatically changed the custom picture framing business over the past 15 years. Some market studies show they have grabbed up to 40% of the local framing market. Quadrant has always focused on providing the independent custom framer with the tools to compete with the big boxes. Our interests are completely aligned with your success. We don't supply them and we don't compete with you.. Can you say the same about your other suppliers?

The Most Unique Pickup

This may be the most unique vehicle we've ever had used to pick up an order from Quadrant. The boys at the George Eastman Museum arrived in a 1919 Peerless to pickup up their glass. A perfect car for such a perfect day!
